Jiro Raw Bar & Grill in Bangkok
With its playground-like vibe and colorful bricks, japanese restaurant Jiro Raw Bar & Grill (Manhattan Hotel, Sukhumvit Soi 15, +6681-413-4411) makes for a curious spot to enjoy some sushi. Bangkokians' japanese food obsession show no signs of abating, with Sushi Hiro (Ramindra  Soi 57, +6680-080- 0538) the latest opening, out on the edge of Bangkok. The sister restaurant of Tatsuya lzakaya Buffet and Niku­ King, it sports a tradition a l japanes e fisherman village­ inspired decor and offers dishes like spicy maguro maki, kinmedai sushi (golden eye snapper) and Canadian lobster sas himi.

J-Cafe (Ekkamai Soi 12, +6690-807-0992)  isn't your aver­ age downtown cafe. This sun-drenched library -like venue offers an airy place for casual hangouts,japan ese language classes and getting some work done. Seat yourself amid the greenery of the Zen garden, complete with small waterfall, and enjoy the popular Tokyo Banana sweets served with tea , strawberry short­ cakes and some savory dishes like khao pad kraprao (rice with stir-fried holy basil and pork).
